Welcoming library spaces, collections, programs, tours, and classroom support for young people from birth through high school, plus parents, caregivers, daycare providers, teachers, and students.

The Youth Services Department, comprised of the Children’s Room and Young Adult area, serves young people from birth through high school, as well as parents/caregivers, college students, daycare providers, and teachers. We offer a variety of programs throughout the year, including Read to a Reptile, storytime, Craft of the Month, the Summer Reading Program, Lego Club, and tours.

The Youth Services collection includes picture books, chapter books, fiction/nonfiction, audiobooks on CD, Vox books, magazines, DVDs, and music CDs.

Children especially enjoy this space for its puzzles, giant checker boards, comfy cushions, and reading nooks.

Internet

The Children’s Room and Young Adult area are each equipped with computers for Internet access, games, or word processing.

Library Cards

Children ages 0 and older can get a free library card. Children under age 14 are eligible when accompanied by a custodial parent or legal guardian with a library card in good standing. Applicants must be present.

School Visits and Tours

School groups and daycares with at least 8–10 people are encouraged to set up a tour in advance by calling children’s librarian Kelly Wiisanen at 715-394-8867.

Storytime

Storytimes are created for children ages 0–6, though all are welcome. Storytime takes place Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. with a brief hiatus in the spring and late fall. Each storytime includes songs, stories, and a craft. No registration is necessary.
